Creating your wedding ceremony: A step-by-step guide with Stacey, your Sunshine Coast Celebrant
Here’s my easy step-by-step process to create your dream ceremony.
Planning your wedding ceremony should be one of the most enjoyable parts of your wedding journey and as your Celebrant, I’m here to make it a breeze for you. Here is my easy-going process to create your fun and relaxed wedding ceremony.
Step 1: Signing an agreement to lock me in for your wedding day
Now that you’ve given me the honour of being your Celebrant and have decided to entrust me with your wedding ceremony, the first step is to sign our electronic contract and pay the confirmation of booking fee. I will email the contract and invoice to you, so it’s important to check your junk or spam folders, just in case. All you need to do is simply sign the contract electronically and submit it back to me. This step locks me in for your date and sets the wheels in motion for the exciting and smooth journey ahead.

Step 2: Completing your Notice of intended Marriage Form on a relaxed zoom call
I’ll email you a link to my calendar where you can choose your most suitable date and time to meet me on Zoom to sign your Notice of Intended Marriage form and dive into the sweet details of your ceremony. Your Notice of Intended Marriage form is due one month prior to your wedding date. I will also need to see your original birth certificates (or current passports), current drivers licences and, if applicable, your original certificates of divorce. This meeting is essential for your marriage legalities and tailoring your ceremony to perfection.

Step 3: The fun questionnaire (I promise it’s fun!)
If you’ve booked a personalised ceremony, I’ll email a simple questionnaire to you to complete together. This is where the magic begins. You could even make this a date night! You'll share all the wonderful details about your relationship, your personalities and your vision for your personal, relaxed and fun ceremony. Ideally, I would love to read your questionnaire answers before we meet again so I can ask additional questions that may arise from your answers.

Step 4: Writing your ceremony
After our zoom call and if you’ve completed the fun questionnaire, the ball is in my court as I write the first draft of your ceremony. I’ll then email it to you both for review. This is your chance to make any tweaks or changes to ensure it truly reflects your love story, your personalities and your ceremony vibe. Let’s aim to finalise your ceremony a month before your wedding date, giving you plenty of time to feel confident and excited about your big day (a big tick off the wedding to do list!).

Step 5: Writing your wedding vows and choosing your ceremony music
Music sets the tone and your vows are the heart of your ceremony (and future!) and I’ll guide you through these two steps. To help you write ah-mazing wedding vows, here’s my comprehensive vow writing guide, which includes examples to get you started and here’s how to create your ultimate ceremony playlist. The goal is to finalise your vows and ceremony playlist one week before your wedding day.

Step 6: Finalising everything
We’ll have a quick pre-ceremony chat or an onsite rehearsal the day before your wedding to put your minds as ease so you can sit back, relax and soak up the anticipation of your big day, knowing everything is perfectly in place.
Step 7: After your ceremony (you can’t get rid of me that easily!)
I’ll send a sweet email to you once I get home from your ceremony to let you know your marriage paperwork is on it’s way to the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages in Brisbane to be processed. Once they have registered your marriage, the Registry Office will email you with an application form to order your Registered Marriage Certificate. This certificate is required to change your surname, if you wish to do so.
Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life and I’m incredibly honoured to be part of it. With a fun, relaxed and personalised approach, I’m here to make the planning of your ceremony super easy and stress free! So, let’s get started on creating a ceremony that screams YOU and will still make you smile in decades in come!
The best way to reach me is via email between 9am and 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.
